Introduction
Caritas Australia has taken precautions to ensure that your
transactions and personal information are safe. Your transactions with
Caritas Australia are protected by VeriSign (www.verisign.com.au) using the latest SSL (Secure
Sockets Layer) encryption technology that securely passes transaction
data to the CommWeb payment gateway.
Data storage
Any personal information collected directly by Caritas Australia is
stored on secure servers in secured facilities. Information stored on
our web server computer is protected by firewalls, to prevent your data
being accessed from any external computer. A restricted number of
authorised Caritas Australia staff has access to this system.
Payments
Caritas Australia uses a credit card transaction gateway provided
by CommWeb to process your credit card transactions via the EFTPOS
banking network. This payment option uses 128-bit SSL encryption and
combination of Credit Authorisation Software and a Secure Encryption
Device (EFTPOS terminal).
On the credit card transaction system, several screens appear during
the payment process. When you submit your credit card details, they
are sent to CommWeb for processing and you will recieve a confirmation
that your transaction was successful. Caritas
Australia will also send you an e-mail confirming the
transaction.
Please note that when you make a credit card donation on our
website, your credit card details are passed to CommWeb payment gateway
and are not retained on Caritas Australia’s systems.
This process is different for the hopegiver online sign
up form, where your credit card details are encrypted and sent
directly to Caritas Australia's server via a secure connection, to
enable the authorised monthly payments from your account.
Caritas Australia may, if required, contact you to confirm your donation
prior to issuing a receipt.
Exclusions
While Caritas Australia takes utmost care in the security of your
data on our systems, we are not responsible for any unauthorised access
to your personal information or loss of or corruption of data caused by
any computer virus or Trojan or via any system from an Internet Service
Provider linking your computer system with ours.
If you have any reason to believe that there has been unauthorised use
of your personal information, such as your credit card details, please
notify us immediately on our toll free number 1800 024 413.
