The joy of education: Nin’s story
Raised in a rural village in Cambodia, 14-year-old Nin loved going to school. However, she was forced to drop out when her mother, a widow, became chronically ill and unable to make a living. Nin did housework, farming and sold cakes in order to put food on her family’s table – preventing her from gaining the education she needed to transform her life.
Through a Caritas program, Nin received financial assistance and study materials, enabling her to go back to school. She’s doing well and has her eyes set firmly on finishing high school and fulfilling her dream of becoming a nurse.
The Global Gift of Education brings the joy of learning to people like Nin. Please consider buying a card to help people living in poverty across the world, where education can be an unattainable luxury.
