Q: Are Global Gifts tax-deductible?

A: If the donation is over $2, then yes. If you purchase online, a tax-deductible receipt will be emailed to you. If you order by phone, fax or post, the receipt will be mailed to you along with your gifts.

 

Q: How soon can I get my printed cards?

A: Allow 10 working days from the time you ordered. If they have not arrived by then, please contact us.

 

Q: Can I choose how much to pay for each gift?

A: Yes. You can choose how much you want to pay for each gift from the suggested amounts, or you can choose your own amount for each gift. Then, once you’ve selected the number of cards you want to send for each gift at the selected price, the website will calculate the total for you automatically. There’s a space provided on the paper order form for it, if you use a printed version.

 

Q: Can I choose how much to pay for the ‘Community’ gift?

A: No. The 'Community' card is available in one fixed price only.

 

Q: Where will my money go?

A: Gifts are representative of the type of community development work supported by Caritas Australia.

Your purchase will help to provide the most basic of needs, such as food, water and medical support, to communities around the world, as well as respond to emergencies through our extensive network of partners. Your support enables Caritas Australia to direct funds where they are needed most.

 

Q: Does my money buy exactly what is mentioned on the card? For example, if I purchase a Water gift card, will it be used for Water projects?

A: All funds raised through Global Gifts are used where the money is needed most. The money raised does not specifically buy what is mentioned on each type of gift card.

For example, the purchase of clean water contributes to our integrated community development projects across the globe, where communities are provided the skills and tools to transform their lives. Many projects improve water and sanitation as part of a wider picture of community development.

 

Q: Can Caritas Australia send the gift directly to a friend or family member on my behalf?

A: Privacy issues prevent us from holding the addresses of people who have not provided them to us personally. Therefore, for paper cards, we will give you the gifts to pass on when you receive them. E-Cards can be sent directly to the recipient’s email address on your behalf.

 

Q: What size are the gift cards & envelopes?

A: The card is A6 when folded (315mm x 148mm when flat). The envelope is C6 (114mm x 162mm).

 

Q: What is e-Card?

A: E-Card is a digital version of the Global gifts card that is being delivered to the recipient in form of a custom designed email. After selecting a gift on our website, you can personalise it by adding a message and specifying the recipient's e-mail address. The website will deliver an e-Card along with your personal message to the recipient’s email address on your behalf. The email will also include a story from a program participant.

 

Q: I would rather not buy a gift; can I still make a donation to Caritas Australia?

A: Yes. All donations are welcome at our donate online page. You can also enter an optional general donation at the time of purchasing a Global Gift.
