Cowitas back by popular demand

Caritas supports cow banks throughout the world, where families and communities are given the opportunity to “borrow” a cow from the cow bank. Approximately $600 could provide a cow in Uganda.

St Therese Primary School, Padstow

In 2006 our school was very motivated by the ‘Cowitas’ project and we set a goal to raise enough money for 2 cows!!!! The children were very excited and each time a new part of the cow was added to the posters there was a buzz of excitement in the air! We even had a local resident donate $50 to our cause to help us along the way. By the end of Term 2, we raised $1350.05. We certainly exceeded our goal. Our school community has not only found out a lot about the poverty people in Uganda experience but learnt about the joy of giving.
