About Project Compassion
Project Compassion is Caritas Australia’s annual fundraising appeal
Project Compassion began in 1966 and is now the largest humanitarian fundraising campaign in Australia. Thank you for being part of this success story.
Your generosity has enabled Caritas Australia to help so many marginalized people throughout the world. With your support, Caritas Australia is working hard to support communities living in poverty to help people to help themselves.
In 2008, Caritas Australia has set a target for the Project Compassion appeal to raise $9.7 million.
Project Compassion 2008 begins on Ash Wednesday 6 February 2008 and ends on Easter Sunday 23 March 2008. During these six weeks of Lent, Catholic schools and parishes throughout Australia will receive and use educational materials aimed at broadening the way we view the world.
International speakers from our partner organisations also visit Australia to participate in an public speaking campaign for people of all ages. They speak at schools, parishes, community groups and through the media. Our international visitors tell of their personal experience with some of the hundreds of grass-roots community development programs around the world which are supported by Project Compassion.
Join the call to action for Project Compassion 2008 and together let’s reduce world poverty!
