Exhibition: Be part of the Blueprint
Blueprint for a Better World is a travelling multimedia exhibition which gives a practical face to the eight Millennium Development Goals. Video, photographs, as well as contributions (such as HIV/AIDS posters, baskets, school books and readers) from Caritas partner communities make up the installation. Each of the eight MDGs are presented as a blueprint for positive social change in our world highlighting how Caritas Australia and its community partners — supported by the Australian public and the Australian Government through AusAID — are engaged in the challenge of tackling poverty for the world’s poorest. Photographic Exhibition: Faces from the frontline

Entry: $5 donation to Caritas Australia

In June 2009, celebrated Australian photographer Hamish Cairns visited Pakistan with Caritas Australia. Responding to the 2.5 million people who had been displaced in the fighting in the Swat Valley, Caritas was delivering aid to these innocent victims of the war on terror. Capturing the personal stories of these proud people, this exhibition illustrates the dignity and strength of those who are forced to live in this war torn area.

Parliamentary luncheon

Read what human rights advocate Father Frank Brennan had to say during his address to a Paliamentary luncheon to launch Project Compassion.

Father Frank Brennan, AO, SJ, a Jesuit priest and lawyer. He is an Officer of the Order of Australia (AO) for services to Aboriginal Australians (1995). In 1998 he was named a Living National Treasure during his involvement in the Wik debate and was appointed an Ambassador for Reconciliation by the Council for Aboriginal Reconciliation.
In 2001–02 he spent 18 months in East Timor as Director of the Jesuit Refugee Service and was awarded the Humanitarian Overseas Service Medal for that work.
On 10 December 2008 he was appointed as the Chairperson to the Australian Government's National Human Rights Consultation Committee. In 2009 this independent Committee will consult with the Australian community about the protection and promotion of human rights.

Lulu Mitshabu speaks

Lulu Mitshabu, Caritas Australia’s Programs Coordinator for Democratic Republic of Congo traveled during Project Compassion to talk about the dangers of violence against women in her homeland.
