Have fun fundraising for Caritas Australia projects around the
world, enjoy an international meal together for a small donation
and learn about food and nutrition in each country. gather six
people to prepare a simple recipe from one of the six countries
featured in the Project Compassion 2009 stories.
The six recipes
Uganda: Matoke (with optional ground nut Sauce)
India: Coconut Barfi (sweet treat!)
Papua New Guinea: Baked Sweet Potato
Indonesia: Bingkar (sweet treat!)
Indigenous Australia: Damper
Bolivia: Salteñas

Who can hold a Caritas Café?
Families and friends: hold a progressive dinner, enjoy one
dish at each house and decorate the room in the theme of that
country! Or cook up a storm and invite friends to your house for an
international feast – entry by donation.
Parishes: gather parishioners together for a caritas café morning tea after mass – try one recipe each Sunday in lent and invite others to taste test your dish for a small donation.
Schools: hold a caritas café during lunch, as part of home
economics class, homeroom, or during a special caritas day at
school.
