Here at Caritas Australia, as we prepare to celebrate the birth of Christ, we’re also pausing to reflect on the past year, and to give thanks for the many blessings we’ve encountered.

We would like to thank from the bottom of our hearts each and every person who has supported our work – from 15 year old Jess who organised a gala dinner at the Cowra Civic Centre, to year 2 student Vivien who sold all her toys and books to fundraise for Caritas, to the WA Farmers who donated their crops to help Syrian refugees. To all our walkers, runners, and swimmers who completed kilometres for compassion, including the amazing Run to Better Days team who for the second year in a row ran along the Queensland coast to raise funds and awareness of global poverty.

To all the students and teachers who have organised countless activities to raise awareness about poverty in the world, and fundraise to help those experiencing poverty. And to all our amazing supporters in parishes, workplaces, and the wider community for your constant generous support. We were blown away by the heartfelt outpouring of generosity in response to the typhoon in the Philippines. But we are amazed every day at the unwavering, selfless, day-to-day support we receive from the Australia community. To all of you – thank you from every one of us.

Thank you for your support throughout 2013, and we wish you and your family a blessed Christmas, and peace and safety over the holiday season.
