Your impact this year: The work Caritas Australia and our partners carried out in 2022

2022 has been an incredibly difficult year for vulnerable communities around the world. From the war in Ukraine to the food crisis in Africa to devastating floods in Asia, it’s often the most marginalised people who are impacted.

Yet, despite these challenges, we have witnessed the extraordinary courage and resilience of displaced families and people living in marginalised communities as they confront the challenges of conflict, poverty and injustice.

Emergency response to crises around the world

Your kindness has helped support vulnerable communities living through emergencies such as war, food insecurity and natural disasters. Thanks to you, we have been able to provide assistance where it has been needed the most, supplying essential services including shelter, water, food and medication.

Between 2021 and 2022, you helped reach out to 378,435 people experiencing humanitarian emergencies through Caritas Australia funding, and 999,031 people through joint appeals with Caritas Internationalis. Additionally, we were able to respond to 34 emergencies in 23 countries, including:

Development work continues in vulnerable communities

We worked with vulnerable communities across Africa, Asia, the Pacific and Australia and continued our mission of helping them forge a path out of poverty.

How your compassion will help change lives in 2023

As we begin a new year, Caritas Australia will introduce new long-term development programs in new countries that will address some of the most immediate challenges facing vulnerable communities today. From tackling climate change in Tuvalu to fighting hunger in Ethiopia, your support means we can continue to walk alongside communities worldwide to build a better and brighter future for all.
