No woman should face pregnancy or childbirth without access to essential healthcare.

Rose is a mother of nine from rural Papua New Guinea. She considers herself lucky because she had access to a local health centre when she needed it most. But no woman should have to rely on luck to survive childbirth.

In many remote communities, mothers still face pregnancy and childbirth without access to the care, equipment and support they need. Health centres are often under-resourced, and distance, cost and difficult weather can make reaching care a challenge.
