Program snapshot: Improving Food Security and Sustainable Livelihoods in the Northern Division in Fiji
The Northern Division of Fiji has been neglected for years because of its remoteness and has witnessed the highest poverty rate in the nation. Caritas Australia works with the Foundation for Rural Integrated Enterprises & Development (FRIEND) to support communities in the northern division that are impacted by climate change and health issues including high non-communicable disease and mortality rate.
The project will aim to improve business and financial literacy among community members, increase nutrition rates and food security and improve communities’ disaster preparedness and resilience through establishing an organic seedling bank.
