2024 Earthquake In Morocco Distribution Of Food Paniers 02

September 8, 2025, marks two years since the powerful Morocco earthquake struck the High Atlas Mountains on the border of the Al Haouz region. With a magnitude of approximately 6.9, it inflicted catastrophic human and material losses—nearly 2,960 lives lost, over 5,600 injured, and widespread destruction,

As we reflect on the two-year milestone, it's clear that while some progress has been made, great challenges remain.

Relief and Reconstruction
Since the disaster, our partner Caritas Maroc have been able to provide assistance to tens of thousands of people, providing shelter, water, hygiene support, emergency supplies, living essential and community recovery programs.

Rising material costs and logistical difficulties have meant that many families are still living in temporary shelters.

Today, we honour the memory of those lost and stand with survivors and those who are still displaced.

Let this anniversary be a reaffirmation: solidarity doesn’t end after relief. It’s in building, slowly and equitably, a future where every Moroccan family can live in safety.

To help support vulnerable communities around the world impact by emergencies and disasters, please donate to our Emergency Response Appeal.
