The intense Cyclone Mocha crashed through Myanmar and southeastern Bangladesh on Sunday, making landfall between Cox's Bazar in Bangladesh and Myanmar's Sittwe with winds of up to 210 kilometres per hour. Â

The 22nd General Assembly of Caritas Internationalis (May 11-16) in Rome has elected Kirsty Robertson, CEO of Caritas Australia, as the new Vice President of Caritas Internationalis, to serve the Confederation over the next four years across 162 national Caritas member organisations.Â

The 22nd General Assembly of Caritas Internationalis (May 11-16) taking place in Rome has, on the evening of May 13, elected Archbishop Tarcisius Isao Kikuchi as the new President of Caritas Internationalis to serve the Confederation over the next four years.Â

On Sunday 16 April, the Vietnamese Community in Wollongong (VCA) raised an incredible $13,791 at a fundraiser dinner for Caritas Australia, to support people impacted by the Türkiye-Syria earthquake.  Â

On Sunday, April 16, Kirsty Robertson, Caritas Australia’s CEO, started an epic 700 km bicycle ride from Cairns to Townsville to tour and greet schools and parishes. Â

Caritas Australia’s annual Lenten fundraiser Project Compassion has been a success this year thanks to the dedication and support of over 1,700 schools and 1,200 parishes across the country. Â

For over half a century, generations of Australians have participated in Project Compassion. Project Compassion began in 1965–making it one of the nation’s longest running charity campaigns.

Caritas Australia has launched its first-ever Catholic Social Teaching (CST) Card Sets, taking its existing Catholic Social Teaching Toolkit and resources, and creating an accessible and portable way to integrate CST principles for schools, parishes and workplaces. Â

The death toll from last week’s two earthquakes has now surpassed 36,000 across Türkiye and Syria, with thousands more injured and fears that the numbers may reach as high as 50,000. Â
