Our Pledge for Peace focuses on administrative changes taking place on the 9th of September that would see aid volumes fall below a level that is already claiming innocent lives.
Our message is clear: the people of Gaza cannot eat less than they already are and need urgent food and medical aid, so our leaders must act swiftly to increase the volume of aid getting to those in need.
We are collecting signatures up until the 31st of August 2025, with the pledge being delivered to the Australian Foreign Minister’s office on Monday the 1st of September 2025.
Gaza
- Famine has been declared in Gaza, with the trapped population facing starvation, critical levels of acute malnutrition and death.
- Homes, hospitals and essential water and sanitation infrastructure have been destroyed.
- 1.9 million people have been displaced, the equivalent of 9 out of every 10 residents.
- 92% of housing has been severely damaged or destroyed. There are tens of millions of tons of rubble that could take over a decade to clear. Thousands of dead remain trapped under this rubble.
- Gaza is the most dangerous place in the world for children. Over 18,000 children have been killed.
- Despite dangerous and challenging conditions, our partners on the ground are continuing to deliver emergency aid and are adapting their approach where it is needed.
Ukraine
- At the beginning of 2025, the full-scale war in Ukraine entered a new phase with an escalation of hostilities, leading to further displacement of the population.
- The intensity of the conflict increased due to coordinated airstrikes targeting civilian infrastructure across the country, significantly complicating humanitarian response efforts.
- September 2024 recorded the highest civilian casualties since mid-2022. In just three months, 574 civilians lost their lives, and over 3,000 were injured.
- Attacks on homes, schools, and hospitals continue, leaving millions without access to basic needs.
- Over 9 million people now live in poverty, a sharp rise since the war began.
- We are working with our partners to bring emergency shelter to displaced communities, access to clean water, hygiene support services, and assistance with daily essentials.
Sudan
- It has been two years since the start of the devastating conflict in Sudan.
- The country is facing one of the world’s largest humanitarian crises, with conflict, hunger, and disease devastating millions of lives.
- Nearly 11 million people are internally displaced and 2.3 million people have fled to neighbouring countries.
- Sudan hosts 14% of the world's internally displaced people.
- Over half the displaced population are women and girls, and 54% are under 18 years of age.
- More than 25 million people are struggling with food insecurity.
- 750,000 people in North Darfur are in famine conditions and are facing starvation.
- We are working with our partners to deliver protection services for those in need, as well as water, sanitation and health services, and multi-purpose cash assistance.
Democratic Republic of the Congo
- In the Democratic Republic of the Congo, violence is forcing families from their homes.
- Over 400,000 people have fled for their lives, seeking safety in overcrowded displacement camps around Goma. These families have nothing—no food, no water, no shelter. The suffering is unimaginable, and the crisis is escalating by the day.
- Our partners are on the ground, ready to provide life-saving aid, but we urgently need your support.
