People’S Choice Primary Category Winner Stefanija G, Xavier College, SA
Caritas Australia has announced the winners of the 2025 Season of Creation Schools Art Competition, which invited students across the country to reflect on the theme “Peace with Creation” through visual art.
The Season of Creation, observed globally from September 1 to October 4, is a time for Christians to unite in prayer and action for the Earth. Caritas Australia’s Catholic Earthcare program continues to empower schools, parishes and communities to engage with this season through creative initiatives like the Garden of Peace project and art competition.
This year’s art competition saw an inspiring response from young artists, with hundreds of entries submitted and over 1,500 votes cast in the People’s Choice Awards, reflecting strong community support for youth-led ecological expression.
Winners include:
  • People’s Choice Primary Category Winner: Stefanija G, Xavier College, SA
  • People’s Choice Secondary Category Winner: Indira L, Holy Spirit College, NSW
  • Bishop’s Choice Primary Category Winner: Zahra E, St John XXIII Catholic College, NSW
  • Bishop’s Choice Secondary Category Winner: Maggie W, North Sydney Girls High School, NSW
Bishop Tim Harris, Chair, Bishops Commission for Social Justice, Mission, and Service, who judged the Bishop’s Award category, said; “It was a privilege to judge Caritas Australia's Catholic Earthcare annual art competition this year. The creativity and depth shown by students in responding to the theme ‘Peace with Creation’ was truly inspiring. Their artworks flourished with meaning, beauty, and a deep sense of care for our common home, which is a testament to the hope and wisdom of our young people.”
Winning artworks will be featured in Caritas Australia’s communications and advocacy materials, amplifying youth voices in the movement for climate justice and ecological conversion.
“The creativity and care shown by these young artists is a powerful reminder that the next generation is deeply engaged with the call to care for our common home,” said Georga Bryant Community Partnerships Lead at Caritas Australia.
“Their work brings to life the values of ecological justice, compassion, and hope that are at the heart of our Catholic Earthcare mission” she concluded.
