TAPITAS - Fundraising Activity
Sisilia, a 13-year-old girl from remote northern Tanzania, faced many challenges including poverty, unsafe water and poor sanitation. Her father died when she was just a baby so Sisilia would help her mother by fetching water three times day from a canal, sometimes through treacherous conditions.
Despite the risks and hardships, Sisilia remains determined to succeed. Through the A+ Successor Project, Sisilia joined a SWASH club where she
learned about hygiene, sanitation, child rights and can now share her knowledge of water and hygiene with her family and community.
Through the project, her school and village now have access to clean water taps, giving her more time to study. Sisilia dreams of becoming a pilot and building a better life for her family in a safer, bigger home.
To help inspire fundraising, create a Tapitas Water Wall with a picture of a tap at the top and water droplets cascading down. Students donate $5 for each droplet. They can write their name, and even add a prayer if they choose, before adding their droplet to the display wall.
If you have a large school, you might have a different ‘tap’ for each grade or house.
Don’t forget to share a photo of your water wall with us! Email: projectcompassion@caritas.org.au
