Sign the pledge

The people of Gaza simply cannot eat less - but new restrictions are set to reduce aid volumes as of September 9.

At Caritas, we believe in the dignity of every person. In the face of suffering, we are called to act with compassion, courage, and hope.

Sign this pledge to join our call for justice, hope and dignity in Gaza.

Caritas Australia is calling on supporters to sign this urgent pledge, which will be delivered to the Australian Foreign Minister’s office on Monday the 1st of September.

We do so in anticipation of new restrictive conditions for international NGOs that require them to breach the safety and security of their staff or face deregistration which will prevent them from providing critical, life-saving humanitarian assistance to Palestinians

These come into force on September 9th, and will likely see aid volumes fall below a level that is already claiming innocent lives.

While Caritas partners are likely unaffected, it is clear there is simply no room for overall aid levels to drop. The people of Gaza cannot eat less than they already are.

We are aiming to gather as many signatures in the coming weeks to demonstrate strong public support for increased humanitarian aid access to Gaza.

Every signature helps amplify the call to protect innocent lives and ensure vital aid reaches those who need it most.

Pledge for Life-Saving Aid to Gaza

We, the undersigned, call on the Australian Government and the international community to act urgently to prevent a catastrophic drop in humanitarian aid to Gaza.

By September 9, changes to registration processes for international NGOs threaten to drastically reduce the already insufficient flow of food, water, and medicine into Gaza.

We are deeply concerned about the escalating starvation crisis, especially among children. The lack of food, baby formula, clean water, and essential medical supplies is already costing lives.

If aid volumes fall further, this could signal a catastrophic turning point for the protection of civilians in Gaza.

To allow further starvation to take hold in the region would also be a history shaping event, forever marking our collective humanity.

We pledge our support for Caritas Australia’s urgent call to:

  • Enable safe, unhindered, and large-scale humanitarian operations
  • Ensure an immediate and unconditional permanent ceasefire
  • Protect civilians and aid workers
  • Secure the release of all Israeli hostages and Palestinians arbitrarily detained by Israel

We stand in solidarity with the people of Gaza and with humanitarian organisations working tirelessly to deliver aid under impossible conditions.

We urge our leaders to act swiftly and to focus on what can be done to increase the volume of aid reaching those in need, before it is too late.

For justice, dignity, and hope.
