About Season of Creation
The Season of Creation is an ecumenical celebration held annually from 1 September to 4 October. During the Season of Creation, we join our sisters and brothers in the ecumenical family in prayer and action for our common home.

Creation Changemakers is a new Catholic Earthcare campaign designed to support schools to take meaningful, spiritually grounded action for ecological and social justice.
Led by Caritas Australia’s Catholic Earthcare program, and aligned with the Laudato Si’ Action Plan, the campaign offers schools an opportunity to align their values with real-world change — spiritually, environmentally and socially.
Your school has:
Joined a global community, caring for our common home
Deepened your community’s connection between faith and sustainability
Aligned with the Laudato Si’ Action Plan and Catholic Social Teaching
Your mission: Create a Garden of PeaceÂ
The Creation Changemakers campaign launches with simple, impactful actions during the Season of Creation. This year’s global Season of Creation theme is ‘Peace with Creation’, symbolised by the Garden of Peace. As a symbol of peace, we are encouraging all schools to incorporate doves into their garden. We have included a template to help you along..
Every school, no matter its size, location, or starting point, is invited to participate.Â

What can your school do?Â
There’s a way for everyone to participate meaningfully in the Creation Changemakers campaign, depending on your school’s resources and settings.Â
If your school has an existing garden:
Enhance your campus garden space by adding elements like paper doves or peace symbols, or alternatively creating a smaller adjacent garden to acknowledge this year’s Season of Creation. Consider placing a plaque, message or sign alongside the garden to commemorate this year’s theme.
If your school is creating a new garden for the first time:
If you have space, this is a great opportunity to gather students, staff and parents to design and build a new Garden of Peace to begin the school’s journey towards ecological conversion. Consider using plants indigenous to your area. You could add a message or sign to commemorate the theme of peace.
If your school is without available land or outdoor space:
Be creative and design your very own indoor garden. Use paper doves, student artworks or indoor plants to decorate any available indoor space to reflect peace and sustainability. Students could learn to make a terrarium for the classroom or to take home. It does not have to be a huge space; even a small classroom corner can make an impact.
Pray/Bless your Garden of Peace
After creating a Garden of Peace at your school, bring your class/school community together in prayer during the Season of Creation. Suggestions on how to write a prayer unique to your school are include, along with a sample prayer.
Share Your Earthcare Moments
Throughout the campaign, share your Garden of Peace creations across social media using the hashtags:
#creationchangemakers and #seasonofcreation.
You can inspire others to care for each other and our common home!
