Catholic Earthcare Australia holds online screening of “The Forest Maker”

Taking inspiration from Laudato Si’ and in the lead up to National Tree Day at the end of the month, Catholic Earthcare Australia is holding an online screening of “The Forest Maker” this Thursday, 20 July from 6-8pm.  

The documentary film captures the work of the Australian agronomist Tony Rinaudo who has helped turn millions of hectares of deserts into forests in Africa since the 1980s.  

Through his work re-greening degraded land alongside local communities in more than 24 countries, Mr Rinaudo has made a significant impact on food security, environmental sustainability, and resilience for thousands of vulnerable people in the region.  

After the screening, Mr Rinaudo will join online viewers to speak more about how his methods have helped transform reforestation in Africa and inspired people across continents to care for and protect our common home.  

As part of the ongoing commitment to the Laudato Si’ Action Platform, Catholic Earthcare Australia is working with over 300 schools, 60 parishes and 30 families on their journey towards achieving integral ecology, promoting opportunities for reflection about our role as protectors of creation and the poor.  

Catholic Earthcare Australia is a program of Caritas Australia that responds to the ‘cry of the earth’ to safeguard creation and provide a voice for victims of environmental injustice.
